Medicine Blister Pack Recycling from Home - NOTE: SCHEME HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Until now it’s has been very difficult to recycle these foil and plastic pill packages, with the vast majority going to landfill. Some Superdrug stores with pharmacies take them but the nearest to us is Northampton. Now you can recycle all your blister packs from home for free via a Terracycle programme sponsored by Aldi. Just sign up and Terracycle will send you pre paid post labels. Put the packs (any brand) into an envelope, stick on the label and post. Simples! https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades/aldi-uk
West Northamptonshire Council Strategic Plan Threatens Yelvertoft
Our new Council is currently formulating it’s Strategic Plan for future development sites. This includes a Spacial Plan suggesting sites for industrial, commercial and residential development. One of the sites they are considering for industrial/commercial use is 262 Acres of farmland between Yelvertoft and the M1. A second stage of “consultation” took place at the end of last year and is now closed. We now await the result of the consultation and news as to whether this site has been designated as a preferred option. You can see more information on the flier that YEG distributed at the end of last year here: Spatial Options Flyer and the Council’s documentation at: https://westnorthantsplan.inconsult.uk/WNSPOptions/consultationHomeusing
We still continue to await the outcome of the consultation.
Handy App to Monitor River Levels
Flooding is a major concern for many of us in Yelvertoft. Did you know that there is a smartphone app by which you can monitor the water levels in the Clay Cotton Brook. This is available free of charge. Go to: www.vision-link.co.uk/community-app
